Work-from-home more prevalent in Bay Area than rest of US and world, surveys show
Briefly

Survey results reveal that Bay Area office workers are predominantly working in-office three days a week, primarily on Tuesdays through Thursdays. This marks an increase from the pre-pandemic average of 2.3 days. While about 40% of companies enforced more in-office requirements in the last six months, only 22% intend to increase these mandates further. Larger firms are more inclined to impose additional days. The effectiveness of mandates versus requests for in-office attendance varies, with stricter policies resulting in a stronger perception of effectiveness among employers.
"Overwhelmingly we found that those that require employees to come in feel like their policy is very effective; when they request, it's less effective."
"About 40% of companies... said they had mandated increased in-office days over the previous six months, but only 22% said they planned to boost the number over the following six months."
