This return-to-office (RTO) push has gained momentum as several prominent employers have issued full-time mandates for 2025. Executives argue that working together fosters productivity and collaboration. Despite previous support for remote work flexibility, leaders are now rolling back those policies, with some tracking attendance and taking disciplinary actions against non-compliance.
"We've decided that we're going to return to being in the office the way we were before the onset of COVID," Jassy said. "When we look back over the last five years, we continue to believe that the advantages of being together in the office are significant."
Several executives and leaders have said they believe productivity increases when workers are in the office together, while others hope to increase in-person collaboration.
