Selina Chadha, group director of consumer markets at the CAA, stated, 'Our primary duty is to protect consumers and at the heart of today's proposals is doing the right thing for passengers using Heathrow airport, while supporting sustainable growth, investment, and efficiency.'
The 1-2-1 Prestige Suites 2.0 offer much more privacy compared to Korean Air's older 2-3-2 business-class configuration, where many seats do not have direct aisle access.
Lufthansa can finally start making money on its Boeing 787 Dreamliners after a certification debacle left one of its most lucrative cabins largely empty for months. The German flag carrier said on Monday that it will begin selling tickets for its Allegris business class on the 787. Allegris, Lufthansa's signature cabin concept, spans economy, premium economy, business, and first class, but the business class rollout has been particularly tricky.
As part of a bill to strengthen rights for passengers, MEPs have swung behind proposals to allow passengers to take one personal item, such as a handbag, backpack or laptop, as well as a piece of hand luggage weighing up to 7kg (15lbs) and with combined dimensions of 100cm (39in). The case alone would be bigger than the current maximum permitted free cabin item on Ryanair and others.
Used strategically, though, points and miles can unlock far more than a free domestic flight, from business-class seats on long-haul routes to the ability to book expensive trips without paying cash. To make sense of it all, we spoke with travel experts and points pros about how airline miles actually work today-and how to use them wisely. Ahead, you'll find guidance on earning miles more efficiently, building a credit card strategy that fits the way you spend, avoiding common mistakes, and redeeming points in ways that truly pay off.
The longest flight in the world-the 19-hour non-stop from New York's JFK to Singapore's Changi airport-is no easy feat. It was me, myself, and I against 9,537 miles in the air, on my way to the glitzy Lion City for a reporting trip. The flight, operated by Singapore Airlines, is one I'll never forget, and I'd do it again just to eat kaya toast once more.
Dozing off in a dry, noisy, light-filled plane cabin is no easy feat, which is why it's necessary to set yourself up with a few items to help block out light and noise and to upgrade your overall comfort. From the holy grail of travel neck pillows to the one esthetician-recommended skincare product I won't fly without, these 10 products help me get some shut-eye on every flight.
Do yourself a favor and grab a neck pillow-the memory foam ones that wrap around are my go-to as they keep your head from bobbing in different directions. A neck pillow is non-negotiable when stuck in a middle seat, in my opinion. Not all airplanes have those built-in headrests that you can adjust to your liking, so you can't guarantee that you'll be able to get comfortable with one of those.
When traveling by air, take a look at the type of aircraft you're expected to fly with, as it can make a difference in terms of overall flight experience. This can also help you get to know the different cabin classes so you can make the right seat selection for your comfort level and your wallet.
On Tuesday, the Texas airline said it will begin rolling out free, high-speed WiFi on more than 1,400 mainline narrowbody and dual-class regional aircraft. By early spring, nearly every American flight - including new Boeing 787s serving long-haul international routes - will offer the service. American said this will make it the airline with free WiFi on more planes than any other carrier in the world.
Passengers can be removed from a flight for disruptive, violent, or aggressive behavior, making threats, or interfering with a crew member's ability to perform their duties. Once a passenger refuses instructions, escalates a confrontation, or distracts the crew during boarding or taxi, airlines have little flexibility because it becomes a safety issue. That stance is backed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which maintains a zero-tolerance policy for unruly or dangerous behavior, meaning passengers who interfere with crew duties can face removal, fines, or further action.
"Storing your bag behind you often means you'll be forced to wait for nearly every other passenger to deplane before you can reach it. That can turn what should be a swift exit into a slow, frustrating slog,"
Lufthansa Sleeper's Row gives you a whole row of three or four seats in economy class on long-haul flights," the airline explains on its website. "After pre-boarding, once on board, you will be given your Sleeper's Row set, comprising a thin mattress plus a business class-quality blanket and pillow. You can lie down, stretch out, and enjoy the extra space for the entire duration of your flight.
