Unfortunately, the trade deadline this summer was, uh ..... to put it as nicely as possible, something less than a masterclass. Between moving on from Quinn Priester and Rafael Devers early in the season, Breslow actually shipped out more major league talent this season than he brought in, which is nuts for a team that was in a playoff race.

Major League Baseball announced yesterday that the automated ball-strike challenge system will be implemented in the 2026 season, complete with a corporate partnership with T-Mobile. If you've been to any AAA games over the past few years, or paid attention during spring training, then you already know how this works. Every team starts each game with two challenges, which are retained when a challenge is successful.

Teams hate dealing with the Red Sox. I guess it's just very tough to do with [Craig] Breslow. When you talk to GMs around the game, they said it's very tough to deal with the Red Sox and Craig Breslow in particular.

"We're trying to balance what's best for Roman and his development with where we are as a team and the way that we're prioritizing our 2025 season," Breslow told reporters.
