The Springs fire in Riverside county has grown to 3,500 acres, prompting local authorities to issue several evacuation orders. The fire is concentrated in an area mostly north and east of Lake Perris, burning portions of the surrounding state recreation area.
Waffle House's more than 2,000 U.S. locations span regions prone to hurricanes, tropical storms, tornadoes, and severe flooding, being concentrated in the mid-Atlantic down through the Gulf Coast and across to the Midwest.

The NYC Blizzard of 2026 is doing everything forecasters had said it would this weekend, dumping huge amounts of snow across the five boroughs and bringing the city to a near standstill. At least 15 inches of snow was reported at multiple National Weather Service reporting sites as of 7 a.m. Monday morning with heavy bands of the white stuff forecast to continue battering the Big Apple for several more hours.
Extreme winds ripping across the US could bring hurricane levels of destruction and impact thousands of air travelers flying across the country. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued high wind warnings throughout more than 10 states in the Rocky Mountains, Great Plains, and Southwest throughout Tuesday. Wind gusts are expected to reach hurricane strength in parts of Colorado, Montana, Texas, New Mexico, and Wyoming, exceeding 75mph.
Right now, forecast models are split. Some keep the storm far enough out to sea to spare New York City from snowfall but others show snow reaching coastal New Jersey and Long Island late Saturday into Sunday. A shift of just 50 to 100 miles in either direction could change everything, from rain versus snow to whether the city sees accumulation at all.
