The court found that venue is justified to be in Michigan because defendants United Wholesale Mortgage, AIME's main sponsor, and Sarah DeCiantis, UWM's executive vice president and chief marketing officer, reside there, while Sweeney is a Texas resident. The parties also demonstrated in the filing that transferring the case would be for the convenience of parties and witnesses in the interest of justice. As a result, the case is now awaiting a new case number.

Maggie Cornejo resigned today (Aug. 19) as executive director of San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus' Sheriff's Activities League, saying in a scathing resignation letter that the organization has been crippled by politics and fear. Cornejo's resignation comes on the second day of a hearing to determine whether Corpus will remain as sheriff. She's accused of nepotism, intimidation, retaliation and other forms of corruption.
