The dramatic image of sheets of flame engulfing the front of a Paris restaurant during tense nationwide protests on Wednesday has been widely shared - but it seemed the blaze was actually started accidentally by police. Wednesday marked the day of Bloquons Tout (block everything) protests across France, as demonstrators shared their anger at the government, the political chaos and plans for cost-cutting in the Budget.

The San Jose Fire Department responded to a fire at a Bonchon Restaurant early Sunday morning. The department said firefighters responded to reports of smoke on the 7000 block of Santa Teresa Blvd. around 4:05 a.m. Sunday. A second alarm was requested, and the fire was under control at 5:29 a.m., the department said. The department said no injuries were reported and two other businesses in the building sustained smoke damage but no fire damage.

Toronto police are investigating a suspected arson after a fire erupted at a restaurant in Scarborough early Friday. The fire was particularly intense, involving the full building.
