3 days agoMTA G train subway service may shut down summer weekends, angering Brooklyn residents
Residents oppose MTA's proposal to suspend G train service for nine weekends, citing its importance to the community.
The Bakerloo line is currently part-suspended, with no service operating between Piccadilly Circus tube station and Elephant & Castle Tube station due to a signal failure at Lambeth North tube station. Transport for London says severe delays are affecting the rest of the line while engineers work to resolve the issue.
There are minor delays on the Piccadilly line due to train cancellations. Elsewhere, there is no service between East Croydon and Beckenham Junction, Elmers End or New Addington. Replacement buses are running but will not serve Lebanon Road.
A decoupling of two train cars forced the suspension of service on a subway line running between Manhattan and the Bronx on Sunday evening, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said. Passengers were safely taken off a southbound 4 train near 149th St. after the third and fourth cars became detached, an MTA spokesperson confirmed. No injuries were reported and the investigation was ongoing, the spokesperson added.
"To ensure continuity of service for passengers, a replacement bus service will operate from Monday, 1st September covering the affected section of the line. "The service will run every 10 minutes and will operate during Luas operating hours. "All buses will be wheelchair accessible on the lower deck. "Valid Luas tickets and TFI Leap Cards will be required to travel.
