The new shuttle will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, providing convenient access to Kirkwood for skiers and snowboarders.

With presentation of a 2025-26 season pass from another resort at any ticket window, an adult ticket can be purchased for $60, and a ticket for kids ages 15 and under is $30.

Thanks to the millions of baby boomers hitting retirement age, powder hounds in their 60s and 70s (and beyond) are an increasingly common sight on the slopes. As The New York Times reported, the average cost of a single-day lift ticket in the U.S. hit an astonishing $250 in the 2024 season. And, again, that's the average. It's also only the cost of a ticket, so you'll still need to pay for food and drinks, lessons (if you need them), and a hotel if you plan to stay overnight.

Both avid and casual skiers know that winter requires preparation. If you want to ski as many days as possible, you must have a game plan. The 2025-26 winter saw extreme weather, with the eastern half experiencing consistent cold and heavy snowfall, while the western half endured record warmth and a lack of snowfall.

The proposed two-stage gondola will start in the base area, stop at the Merry-Go-Round restaurant, and continue to Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro, rising 2,700 vertical feet. This will significantly enhance uphill capacity out of the base area and provide skiing options on the upper mountain when the lower mountain is bare or melted out.

The reservation system will give skiers and riders more confidence that a parking spot will be waiting for them before they even leave home, helping reduce the uncertainty that can come with busy weekend and holiday visits.
