San Jose is introducing the Game On youth sports program, designed to inspire thousands of local students and community members. Officials gathered at the Boys & Girls Club of Silicon Valley - Smythe Clubhouse to unveil this initiative, part of the city's SJ26 campaign and backed by the San Jose Sports Authority. From January through June, 50 activations called Game On Moments will roll out at schools and community spots, reaching young people with hands-on sports experiences.

The Saudi Fund for Development and FIFA said the subsidized loans would be offered to member football associations to build or revamp stadiums. Saudi Arabia will host the men's World Cup for the first time in 2034. FIFA has also signed Saudi state oil company Aramco to be a 2026 World Cup sponsor. Birmingham City unveiled plans Thursday to build a 62,000-seat stadium that would put the second-division club and city on a "trajectory towards greatness" in a project costing at least £2.5 billion ($3.2 billion). The Championship team, which counts NFL great Tom Brady as a minority shareholder and U.S. financier Tom Wagner as chairman, said the venue would be the "beating heart" of Birmingham.

No financial details were disclosed. Chief executive Miguel Angel Gil and president Enrique Cerezo will stay in their positions to ensure "continuity of vision and leadership," the two parties said in a joint statement. Gil's position at Atletico has elevated its influence in soccer, as he is a member of the executive committees at both the influential European Football Clubs group and UEFA.
