London's transport strikes have driven a surge in demand for flexible offices, with workers increasingly choosing to base themselves closer to home rather than commute into the city centre or remain entirely remote. Data from International Workplace Group (IWG), the world's largest provider of flexible workspaces, shows a 43 per cent rise in visits to outer London locations during the four days of Tube strikes between 8-11 September.
The hooded man was seen flouting several TfL byelaws when he rode his bike through the underground corridors at Bank station, weaving in and out of commuters making their way on foot. He then carried the bike which is banned from services in and out of the station, as well as most Underground lines up the escalators and stairs. When he reached the ticket barriers, station staff in orange hi-vis jackets can be seen congregating on the other side.
The union said there are a host of reasons for the strike action being decided, ranging from pay issues, extreme shift patterns and going back on their word in previous discussions over these issues. In a general statement, the RMT said: The strikes come after management refused to engage seriously with union demands on pay, fatigue management, extreme shift patterns and a reduction in the working week, as well as failing to honour previous agreements made with staff.
