Warsaw has portrayed the drone incursions as an attempt by Russia to test the capabilities of Poland and NATO to respond. On Friday, Poland rejected Donald Trump's suggestion that the incursions could have been a mistake, a rare contradiction of the US president from one of Washington's closest European allies. Its foreign minister told Reuters Poland hopes Washington will take action to show solidarity with Warsaw.
(We are) drawing the world's attention to this unprecedented Russian drone attack on a member of the UN, EU, and Nato, deputy prime minister and foreign minister Radosaw Sikorski told RMF FM radio. I have spoken before the UN security council in the past, and it seemed to me that our arguments resonated, that they broke through. We have not yet decided who will speak on behalf of Poland, he said.
