Oceanhorn 3: Legend of the Shadow Sea will be available exclusively on Apple Arcade beginning next month, the company announced on Tuesday. Developed by Cornfox & Brothers, it is the highly anticipated new chapter in the popular action-RPG-adventure franchise, set nearly a thousand years after the events of Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm. Apple has highlighted the title as one of the key additions to Apple Arcade's March lineup, positioning it as a flagship RPG experience for the platform.
Shaking up what fans have come to expect from the series, it tosses out the old formulas of straightforward missions and replaces them with an open-world twist that works shockingly well. In the midst of wandering the hidden corners of Japan, players will find fantastic secrets and evocative battles, but what's gained from this ambitious scope is just as often hampered by a surprising lack of challenge and a deadweight story that completely overstays its welcome.
The last five years have seen a tremendous resurgence of role-playing games, from the turn-based masterpieces of Baldur's Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, to the action-packed Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. And staggeringly, it looks like that trend is set to continue well into 2026. Black Myth: Wukong, the action-RPG phenomenon from China that has sold over 25 million copies, is getting a sequel. The game's Chinese developer Game Science unveiled Black Myth: Zhong Kui, the second entry in the 'Black Myth' series, at Gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday. The studio debuted a teaser trailer for the game at the show, confirming the project was in "early development".
