Both Google and Apple are cramming new AI features into their phones and other devices, and neither company has offered clear ways to control which apps those AI systems can access. Recent issues around WhatsApp on both Android and iPhone demonstrate how these interactions can go sideways, risking revealing chat conversations beyond what you intend. Users deserve better controls and clearer documentation around what these AI features can access.

New to the mix with iOS 26.1 are Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese, Swedish, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Also on the language front, the latest update adds more languages to Live Translation, an improvement that Apple had promised. Currently, the feature supports English (UK, US), French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. With iOS 26.1, you'll be able to translate to and from Chinese (Mandarin, Simplified, and Traditional), Italian, Japanese, and Korean.

This $449 discounted price is for the Wi-Fi-only 128GB model. There are three other storage sizes available-each with their own $150 discount. You can get the 256GB model for just $549, the 512GB model for just $749, or the 1TB model for just $949. If you want to add on cellular, the discounts are slightly different. The 128GB, 256GB and 1TB models are down $150 still but the 512GB model is only down $84.

Get a look at the real-time translation the new AirPods Pro 3 bring to your ears, which you can prompt through a gesture. Powered by Apple Intelligence, it uses noise cancellation to reduce the volume of the speaker to elevate the provided translation to the user. It came as one of several updates to the newly revealed AirPods Pro 3, which made their debut at Apple's iPhone 17 launch event.

Bloomberg tells us that the foldable iPhone (V68, apparently) will be similar in look to Samsung's Z-Fold smartphones, opening out into a small tablet. The latest report claims it will have four cameras (so you can FaceTime in any configuration), will use an eSIM for network connectivity, and might use Touch ID rather than Face ID. The device, which will probably also use an Apple modem, is now scheduled for introduction in Fall 2026.
