Where larger, electric espresso machines generate the pressure and heat needed for espresso inside their massive housings, the Flair takes a different approach. First and foremost, that small hole allows steam to escape. If a lid is fully sealed right after the cup is filled, steam can gather inside. Under the right conditions, that could build enough pressure to pop the lid off and result in a nasty burn. Letting a tiny bit of steam escape instead makes that pressure build up less likely to happen.
Explorer Cold Brew has acquired Savorista, a specialty coffee brand focused on decaf and half-caf coffees, as Explorer works to build a multi-brand "caffeine-conscious" coffee platform. The companies announced the deal Jan. 13. Financial terms were not disclosed. In the acquisition, Explorer said it is bringing the Savorista brand, associated intellectual property and its customer base into the "Explorer family."
Americans are drinking more coffee than they have in decades. But fewer of them are getting it from Starbucks.
