"Congratulations JPMorgan on the opening of your new headquarters!" billionaire Michael Dell posted on X last week, alongside a photo of what seems to be a trading floor in the new office. The image features row upon row of his company's monitors in four-screen setups, duplicated as far as the eye can see. Less than a week later, and the post has more than 17 million views. But maybe not for good reasons.
So apparently, legacy automaker Ford (F) took a look at all the problems it is currently facing, from a supplier that suffered a major fire to tariff problems and economic concerns from potential buyers, and decided the way to fix this was to get more people in the office. That could be an oversimplification, but Ford is reportedly doubling down on this plan, threatening workers with firing if they are not in more.
Paramount CEO David Ellison, in one of his first companywide memos, demanded staff come back to the office five days a week or else find a new job. Ellison, the founder and CEO of Skydance Media, became CEO of Paramount after its long-stalled $8 billion merger with Skydance was finalized last month. Since then, he has warned employees of efficiency changes, and said in an email that the new return-to-office mandate, which will be pushed out in phases starting January 2026, will "unlock Paramount's full potential," reported.
That's according to new survey data from Gallup, which found that just 28% of federal workers had a hybrid work model in the second quarter of 2025, down from 61% in the final quarter of 2024. At the same time, fully on-site (or in-person) work for federal employees shot up from 17% in the last quarter of 2024 to 46% in the most recent quarter. Fully remote work has increased slightly among federal workers, rising from 21% to 26% over the last six months.
