Return to office doesn't mean rewind to 2019, conference speaker says
Briefly

The workplace after COVID-19 has shifted from traditional models, emphasizing the need for new strategies in managing hybrid environments. Workers now operate in fully in-person, remote, or hybrid setups, which alters standard office practices. Companies should intentionally manage office attendance and prioritize collaborative days while ensuring hybrid employees are not sidelined by virtual meetings. Remote workers should be recognized equally with in-office perks. Leaders should engage thoughtfully during virtual meetings, maintaining visible communication to support relationship-building in a dispersed workforce.
"Return to office doesn't equal rewind," she said.
Companies with hybrid workforces need to be intentional about how and when they bring workers into the office, establishing things like intentional collaboration days to make the effort seem worthwhile to employees.
Reward remote workers when in-person employees receive perks, she said. For example, instead of just providing bagels to office workers, consider a food delivery gift card for those working from home.
Make it a point for leaders to show their hands during virtual meetings to make it clear they're listening to workers and not multitasking.
