Peel police seized almost $50 million worth of cocaine trafficked from the U.S. into the Greater Toronto Area in commercial trucks, marking a record bust.

Officers responded to the scene near Mississauga Road and Buick Boulevard around 7:30 a.m., police said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

The suspect is now believed to be armed inside a residence on Beacon Lane, Patten said. As of 6 p.m. Friday, Patten said police were still trying to negotiate with the man.
